What is Field Hockey?

Field hockey is a fast-paced, team sport played by two opposing teams of 11 players each (10 field players and a goalkeeper). The objective is to use a curved stick to hit a small, hard ball into the opponent’s goal, scoring points. Played on a rectangular turf field (100 yards by 60 yards), the game emphasizes skill, speed, agility, and teamwork. The modern game, formalized in 19th-century England, is governed globally by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). It’s distinct from ice hockey, often referred to simply as "hockey" in countries where it’s more popular than ice hockey, such as India or the Netherlands
